June is here! And here is a list of the best foodie events in Somerville that you can’t miss. Get hungry.

1. Flavor Lounge: A global pop-up dining experience

Four Saturdays. Four Flavors. The Somerville Arts Council is teaming up with PA’s Lounge to offer you a unique lunch experience in Union Square in June. Each Saturday, a Nibble culinary entrepreneur will be cooking up homemade dishes that they’ve been developing in the Nibble Culinary Entrepreneurship Program. Featuring cuisine from Venezuela, the Philippines, Colombia, and Somalia, come feast upon: Empanadas, Shawarma, Arepas, and refreshing beverages to name a few. Vegetarian options will be available as well!

When:  All Saturday of June, 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th. From 12pm to 2pm (or until food runs out)

Cost: Between $10-$15 per person. Tickets can be purchased at PA’s Lounge day of. A limited amount of tickets will be available for purchase ahead of time.

2. Carnaval

For the 7th year in a row East Somerville Main Streets in partnership with the City of Somerville presents Carnaval @ Somerstreets. Come to this event to enjoy music, performances on three stages, activities for children and food from all over the world. Celebrate East Somerville, a local foodie heaven, and enjoy Salvadorian, Ethiopian, Mexican, American, Brazilian, Italian food and more! Motion Parade starts at 2PM from the Cross ST. Senior Center.

3. Taste of Somerville

Don’t miss the opportunity to sample some of the best food and drinks of the city in Davis Square. Organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Nightlife Group, the 18th edition of Taste Somerville will feature 60+ local restaurants, breweries, and wineries. Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit Somerville CAN, a collaboration of 11 local organizations that work to feed the hungry, train and educate vulnerable youth, improve health, and eliminate racism. Some of the Union Square businesses confirmed as participants for this year’s festival include: Aeronaut Brewery, Bantam Cider, Brass Union, Bronwyn, Casa B, Tasting Counter, The Independent, and Union Square Donuts.

4. International Market Tour as part of Second Saturday

Second Saturday’s is an ongoing event series happening in Union Square. On the second Saturday of each month, local businesses offer food specials and host activities at their various locations. With the purpose of highlighting the culinary richness of Union Square, the Somerville Arts Council leads the next already well known International Market Tour on June 11th. You will visit three or four markets: Mineirão, Brazilian Market; La Internacional, Latin Market; Bombay Market, Nepali Market; and Reliable Market, Korean Market, and Capone Foods. Brazilian Market in Union Square

When:  Saturday, June 11th. From 2:00 to 3:00pm

Where: Union Square Plaza, Somerville

Cost: Tours are free but we encourage you to bring some cash to buy or taste a few things during the tour!

5. Hyper – Local Craft Brewfest

This event is an annual tasting fundraiser presented by Sustainable Business Network of Massachusetts (SBN). It is a celebration of local craft brews in conjunction with SBN’s Boston Local Food Programs, and it highlights local brewers of beer, cider & mead, artisan beverage makers, and local food vendors. While having unlimited 2oz tastings from local brewers, you can also sample and purchase delicious local food from local vendors for $6 or less. The food business include Alex’s Ugly Sauce, All Purpose Bakery, Koy , Q’s Nuts, and Singh’s Roti.
