About the Business: Kay’s Curries, owned and operated by Kalpana Kethineedi, was created to solve two challenges: making traditional Indian cooking accessible for all, and supporting busy parents who want to feed their families delicious real meals but might not otherwise have the time! From these challenges Kay’s Curries was born, specializing in traditional Indian staples like biryanis and curries with handmade masalas, but in a convenient ‘just add water’ format that makes for quick and delicious home-cooked meals that are accessible for Indian and non-Indian cooks alike.

At the Market: Kay’s Curries will be selling ‘just add water’ mixes, complete with masalas and freeze-dried vegetables, plus a few snacks and desserts like the sumptuous semolina-based pudding, sooji halwa.

Ilera Wellness – 5/10, 5/24, 6/7, 8/30

About the Business: Gisele & Solange Adechian created Ilera Wellness to share their experience curing chronic illness with their switch to a 100% plant-based, raw, integrative diet designed to use food as medicine. In addition to tasty treats for sale at the Farmers’ Market that showcase how raw and healthful foods can still taste delicious, Ilera Wellness offers health and diet seminars, retreats, 1-on-1 coaching, and the duo just published a cookbook entitled ‘Freedom from Chronic Illness’.

Golden Empadas – 6/7, 7/5, 7/19, 8/16

About the Business: Diego Gomes is a graduate of the 2024 Nibble Entrepreneurship Program and owner of Golden Empadas. A graduate of culinary school in his native Brazil, Diego has explored the cuisines of Brazil and beyond, but during the Covid pandemic found his love for the classic Brazilian Empada (not to be confused with empanadas), a savory pie with a short crust and decadent fillings such as stewed chicken, hearts of palm, shrimp, and Diego’s personal favorite, pizza! 

At the Market: Golden Empadas will sell frozen empadas in a variety of sizes and flavors for customers to prepare at home, as well as a selection of fresh empadas to be enjoyed at the market!

Karis Haitian Cuisine – 7/19, 8/16, 9/13

About the Business: Karis Haitian Cuisine, sometimes known as Karis Cakes and Pastries, is a new project by Chef and Owner Maritza Jules based on the business Maritza and her mother ran in their native Haiti that provided full-service catering and event planning for local weddings and celebrations. Maritza is hoping to use Farmers’ Markets, city festivals, and a series of pop-ups at Nibble Kitchen to grow her business, uplift the Haitian community in Somerville and greater Boston, and showcase her beloved cuisine to folks in the community who are new to enjoying Haitian cuisine and culture.

At the Market: Karis will be selling Haitian classics including a variety of patties, griot pork belly, kremas and more! In addition to ready-to-eat classics, Maritza will be selling épicé, the spice blend at the heart of Haitian cuisine, so shoppers can access key Haitian flavors at home.

Manaos Colombian Cuisine – 6/21, 8/2, 8/30, 10/4

About the Business: Manaos Colombian Cuisine, owned & operated by Nancy Paz, is rooted in Nancy love of feeding people and hosting celebrations. Chef Nancy and Manaos provide a wide variety of products and services while still finding its true calling here in Somerville, focusing on ready-to-eat Colombian classics like empanadas and guacamole, take-home specialities like handmade preserves and baked goods, and their catering services that include everything from empanadas to elaborately designed charcuterie plates and balloon decorations!

At the Market: Manaos will offer a wide selection of ready-to-eat Colombian staples as well as plenty of take-home goods like preserves, jams, pickles, and more!

Caseirinhos da Mamis 6/21, 7/5, 8/2, 9/13

About the Business: Caseirinhos da Mamis, created by Roseli Sonsin, highlights the vibrant flavors and traditions of Brazilian baking, fusing classic technique and tropical flavors in unique combinations that will delight the Somerville community! A lifelong home cook and host, Roseli is one of those cooks that ‘can cook anything!’. In addition to baked goods, when the weather cools off Caseirinhos da Mamis will feature some savory Brazilian classics as well, namely the ubiquitous feijoada and much more.

At the Market: Brazilian sweet breads, cheese breads, cakes, pastries, savory treats, you name it!
