New Vendor Spotlight: Straight A’s Barbecue by Chef Tunde Agboola

Chef Tunde Pitching Straight A’s Barbecue at the Nibble Business Pitch & Tasting Competition
Upon completion of the 2026 Nibble Entrepreneurship Program’s annual workshop series, Chef Tunde took the leap from backyard pit boss to owner and head chef of his brand new barbecue business, Straight A’s Barbecue. He took on his first professional catering job just a month later and is excited to vend at his first ever community festival at Gilman Square!
Chef Tunde’s menu is rooted in tradition from all sides of his family – his mother is from the barbecue heartland in South Carolina, his father is from Nigeria, and his wife’s family is Lebanese – to create a cuisine truly unique in the Somerville market. Menu mainstays include barbecue staples like smoked beef brisket, pork ribs, and smoked pulled chicken, as well as Lebanese-inspired shawarma spiced cauliflower and smoked eggplant, all served on top of traditional Nigerian jollof rice. The flavors are wherethe fusion ends, however, when it comes to technique Chef Tunde is a purest. With a minimum of 4 hours on his smoker you can bet the meats (and veggies) he serves up are packed with wood smoke and tender as can be!
