About the Business: Karis Haitian Cuisine, sometimes known as Karis Cakes and Pastries, is a new project by Chef and Owner Maritza Jules based on the business Maritza and her mother ran in their native Haiti that provided full-service catering and event planning for local weddings and celebrations. Maritza is hoping to use Farmers’ Markets, city festivals, and a series of pop-ups at Nibble Kitchen to grow her business, uplift the Haitian community in Somerville and greater Boston, and showcase her beloved cuisine to folks in the community who are new to enjoying Haitian cuisine and culture.

At the Market: Karis will be selling Haitian classics including a variety of patties, griot pork belly, bouyon stew, kremas and more! In addition to ready-to-eat classics, Maritza will be selling épicé, the spice blend at the heart of Haitian cuisine, so shoppers can access key Haitian flavors at home.

Manaos Colombian Cuisine – 11/22, 1/24, 2/28, 4/11

About the Business: Manaos Colombian Cuisine, owned & operated by Nancy Paz, is rooted in Nancy love of feeding people and hosting celebrations. Chef Nancy and Manaos provide a wide variety of products and services while still finding its true calling here in Somerville, focusing on ready-to-eat Colombian classics like empanadas and guacamole, take-home specialities like handmade preserves and baked goods, and their catering services that include everything from empanadas to elaborately designed charcuterie plates and balloon decorations!

At the Market: Manaos will offer a wide selection of ready-to-eat Colombian staples as well as plenty of take-home goods like preserves, jams, pickles, and more!

Caseirinhos da Mamis 12/20, 2/14, 3/14

About the Business: Caseirinhos da Mamis, created by Roseli Sonsin, highlights the vibrant flavors and traditions of Brazilian baking, fusing classic technique and tropical flavors in unique combinations that will delight the Somerville community! A lifelong home cook and host, Roseli is one of those cooks that ‘can cook anything!’. In addition to baked goods, when the weather cools off Caseirinhos da Mamis will feature some savory Brazilian classics as well, namely the ubiquitous feijoada and much more.

At the Market: Brazilian sweet breads, cheese breads, cakes, pastries, savory treats, you name it!

CocoBelly Bites – 11/8, 1/10, 4/11

About the Business: CocoBelly Bites was founded in 2023 by sisters Paula and Doris Jones, specializing in Jamaican cuisine and the Jamaican patty in particular. Born in the Boston-area, food was always central to Paula and Doris’ connection to their family and Jamaican heritage. CocoBelly Bites is a pathway for Paula and Doris to explore their Jamaican roots more deeply and share their Jamaican culture with the Somerville community.

At the Market: CocoBelly Bites sells classic Jamaican Patties, including the best-selling beef patty, curried chicken patty, vegetarian patty with Jamaican staples like callaloo, and assorted variety packs. 

Ilera Wellness – 1/10, 1/24, 2/14 

About the Business: Gisele & Solange Adechian created Ilera Wellness to share their experience curing chronic illness with their switch to a 100% plant-based, raw, integrative diet designed to use food as medicine. In addition to tasty treats for sale at the Farmers’ Market that showcase how raw and healthful foods can still taste delicious, Ilera Wellness offers health and diet seminars, retreats, 1-on-1 coaching, and the duo recently published a cookbook entitled ‘Freedom from Chronic Illness’.

About the Business: Molu Ghanaian, founded by Chef Elorm ‘Praise’ Dela-Seshie, brings the vibrant flavors of Ghanaian cuisine to the Somerville Winter Farmers Market. Praise’s passion for cooking stems from her childhood, where she was immersed in the culinary traditions of her Ghanaian family, including her grandmothers, who were both food vendors in Ghana. At the market, Molu Ghanaian offers meal kits that allow customers to recreate classic Ghanaian dishes like Jollof Rice and Red Red stew at home. Praise’s culinary offerings highlight the rich, bold flavors of her heritage, providing a unique opportunity for market-goers to explore and enjoy Ghanaian food while learning about the culture behind it.

At the Market: Molu Ghanaian will sell meal kits for home chefs to recreate Ghanaian classics like Jollof Rice and Red Red stew, as well as a variety of Ghanaian snacks, drinks, and take-and-bake hand pies.
